New PR for running duration

What is possible is often a script we write in our head. What is impossible is also a script.

When you least expect it

Yesterday morning a new record by .04 miles.

 

Good things and bad things happen when you least expect it. We should accept this and get used to it because it will be our shadow until we die.

Out of nowhere yesterday morning, jogging at an 11-minute mile pace, a cramp or possibly an insidiously weird muscle pull in my lower left calf. Had to walk the remaining four miles.

Out of nowhere at breakfast after the run, Dr Coach (her husband is called Coach), Leslie shares that Coach asked Chapin why he keeps coming to practice. Our son replied, “Because of progress.”

He set a new personal record (PR) for distance without stopping.

New PR, just days after a previous PR

Change often happens quickly, whether we measure it or not.

The scenery rarely changes going around in circles.

 

New personal record, just days after a previous PR.

Most teens struggle with various degrees of self-confidence.

Truth be told, so do most adults.

Teens can’t be held fully accountable though because they haven’t learned enough about personal responsibility.

Being physically fit versus not being fit, can you guess which one facilitates self-confidence?

Personal records are proof that progress is being made. Progress caused by effort. Cause and effect. Learning to balance time, energy, and temptation.

It’s rare to see them all in this location.

Near Disney University, about halfway through an easy five-miler.

 

These three may be the next generation motivators:

  1. Shot  Put
  2. Discus
  3. Javelin

Running is not part of the formula for these events.

Yesterday’s slow and short five-miler had the under-pinnings of a nagging right calf issue that may make it impractical to focus on running competitively this year.

Head North if you aren’t planning on running

Wasn’t here to run the Disneyland Star Tours 5k, 10k, nor this morning’s half-marathon.

After downloading photos and writing five blogs, we changed hotels (Grand Californian wasn’t available last night), we headed north to Hollywood for the day.

While this blog is about our physical health, it’s helpful to remember that having “rest days” is part of the formula for wellness.
