Lunch like you mean it

avocado lunch
Lunch. Yesterday. At the desk. Missing are the pistachios, almonds, and walnuts (appetizer), and the desserts: raspberries and an apple.

Lunch like you mean it.

It was so tempting (for the second consecutive day) to eat the Take 5 candy bars on the kitchen countertop candy dish.

But i didn’t.

PS. The excuses i had rationalized were good – but i knew i’d regret caving to weakness.

Be the health

Yesterday while walking home from the gym. The Spanish and Portuguese versions caught my attention.

No exercise yesterday, but also no desserts

Mickey Mouse homemade cupcake
The entire day was themed around Disney.

Mickey Mouse homemade cupcake
Part of an organizational pep-rally yesterday.

No exercise yesterday, but also no desserts.

However, i did stand for at least eight hours, had a greatly reduced food intake, and spoke like i meant it yesterday.

Dinner was light as well.

Most middle-class Americans consume far too many daily calories.

So in the absence of traditional exercise, the standing and reduced calorie intake feels like a decent day physically – except for getting only five hours of sleep last night.

Life is not black and white

Wild Goose Island black and white
A black and white (mono) photo.

Life is not black and white, right?

A fair amount of grey area.

Except for this…

We are born and at some point we die.

Perhaps we can influence our health to allow us to better weather life’s storms.

PS. Yes, i know this is difficult challenging. Glacier National Park (nature, the wild) reminds me how truly challenging it is to survive from one day to the next.

Quantity or quality of years?

Boomers last day.

Quantity or quality of years?

A very intentional way to have quality of years is to be prepared for death.

Preparation makes literally everything better.

An exception that comes to mind is spontaneity.

However, being organized and prepared actually facilitates spontaneity because there is less worry and concern in an organized and intentional life.
