Life’s boring details

Motivational speakers
When yesterday’s photos weren’t loading to iCloud, i used an older photo, like this one from five days ago.

Emotional labor takes a physical toll.

Teaching is pure emotional labor.

Physically spent after yesterday’s 6:30am – 5:00pm teaching engagement.

Went straight to the hotel room, ordered room service dinner, uncharacteristically turned on the TV.

In bed by 8pm.

Physically exhausted from talking all day

airplane oxygen masks
Taking care of ourselves before others initially seems selfish. Went to bed early, thus missing “networking” opportunities.

Teaching all day leaves me invigorated and as physically tired as if I had run a marathon.

So tonight around 6pm, i expect to feel inspired by the great work we did.

Also expect to feel like i’ve been run over by a truck.

Retired from Disney but still working hard

Christmas cards in mailbox
Tucked a pile of Christmas cards in my bicycle bag, rode to the end of the driveway, loaded them in the mailbox, then rode 25 miles roundtrip to Golds Gym and back.

Sometimes i think i’m spending too much time exercising and taking care to eat and sleep well.

And then i imagine life as a retiree.

What would i do with my time?

i’d spend a lot of it exercising, eating well, and investing in eight hours of sleep each night.

While retired from Disney, i’m still working hard to change the world.

Bicycled to the USATF annual meeting at Disney to take a risk

USATF 2016 annual meeting at Disney
Yesterday at the Hilton next to Disney Springs.

Vin Lananna and jeff noel
Yesterday around 10am.

Bicycled from home to the USATF annual meeting at Disney to take a risk.

USATF is United States of America Track & Field.

Vin Lananna was our Team USA Track & Field Head Coach in Rio a few months ago.

Two days ago he was elected USATF’s new President.

Wanted to ask him a question.

Mission accomplished.

Disney creativity DNA in action.

It makes me smile, it was so easy.

And without my Disney experience, something i would have never had the creativity, or courage, to do.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Walt Disney said keep moving forward

Rosen College of Hospitality
The photographer rode with me.

Walt Disney said, “We keep moving forward.”

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible”, is one of the most inspiring things Walt Disney ever said.

Never delivered a 30-minute keynote speech before.

Forty-five minutes, yes, but never 30.

After the content was built, i wasn’t certain it could be remarkably delivered in half an hour.

Why?

Because this would be the first time attempting to nail a 30-minute Keynote speech.
