He (the high school freshman) said it was the first time he felt stronger. He is taking personal fitness as a required course. It was an important revelation for him.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

He doesn’t understand entrepreneurship yet. As we relaxed in our Disneyland Hotel room yesterday afternoon, i explained how entrepreneurship allows you to do things on your own terms.
For example, travel and work can go hand in hand. And because of this, much of your travel becomes a business expense and revenue opportunity.
Explained it to him in more detail than here, and for now i just wait for it to sink in as he decides what he wants to do with his life.

Yesterday was the first day of High School second semester, which included our son’s first real, personal fitness class. He has historically been non-athletic. The teacher had everyone do two laps (half mile). i had no idea this was coming.
Coincidently, the day before, our father/son run included eight mailboxes, or 800 meters. We started running eight weeks ago.
i remember telling him after we finished the half-mile jog that we ran the equivalent of two laps around a track. Have to believe that he had a confidence with him that would have not existed had we not started running 100 meters a day for a week, and then adding 100 meters more each week.
The slow and steady, almost ridiculously easy distance, and the gradual increase added up, and will continue to add up.
A metaphor for our own lives, no?

Dear Son, congratulations on competing your first 800-meter run last night.
Slow and steady works when we continue going slow and steady. As soon as we stop, slow and steady no longer works.
Some things in life are ridiculously obvious.

Yet it will feel like we will be running all day as we celebrate Christmas this morning, finish some chores, fly to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and then drive to my Mom’s house for Christmas day tomorrow.
