King of the hill?

Two people on a dirt pile
It was so hot. We all sweated while doing next to nothing. The sun is almost behind our house, which then affords shade.

King of the hill?

Yesterday, yes!

Playing in dirt is cool.

Every kid knows this.

Most adults will die without ever doing it again.

10+ miles ain’t nothin’

Apple Watch fitness app screenshot
Leisurely 5-mile Monday morning walk together. Then bike 3 miles round-trip to the eye doctor. Then walk another 5 miles in the yard doing yard work.

Spend as much time outside as you can.

dad

Outside for 13 hours today. In the shade from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Not once did i need to go inside to cool off with the AC.

Worst case physically

Two guys at the base of a palm tree
Shirt soaked in sweat. Love it. Squatting like this was humankind’s first portable chair. Tree guy (Karl) is teaching simply by allowing me to observe. Sun is setting. Been outside since sunrise.

Worst case physically for most people is they are fast-tracking to a chronic health condition(s).

This morning i read Chris Brogan’s once-a-week post he emails every Sunday.

Chris’s post today is about metrics and asking the right question(s).

Chris said a phrase that caught my attention. In this phrase he is specifically talking about body weight.

His (seemingly) insightful question is simple…

Am I gaining weight or losing weight?

An easy metric to calibrate. You are or you aren’t.

Immediately (instantaneously) i asked, Do you even know what your ideal body weight is?

Because if you do, the most insightful question you can ask (every morning, week, month) is this…

Yes or no, am i at my ideal body weight?

Physically over-confident?

Big picture, no.

But for my age, possibly.
