Less than a handful of people know i got injured just before leaving for the 2009 Masters Track and Field World Championships in Finland. Ran through the pain and embarrassment, privately, humbly. Grateful on so many levels. Livin’ the dream…ain’t what it seems.

Ain’t as good as it seems.

What?

Summoning motivation every day for a lifetime.

Battling plaguing and unexpected (and sometimes both) injuries.

Nature is beautiful and challenging

This Opossum has an open wound on it’s back. It’s chances of survival are at risk. Photo: yesterday morning during run.

Nature is beautiful and challenging.

Survival of the fittest (strength and intellect).

An incurable, but not terminal, human disease challenges a human to stay strong and smart about their disease.

While some incurable diseases aren’t terminal, not staying strong and smart can lead to other diseases which are not only terminal, but carry a high percentage mortality rate, like colon cancer for example.

Exceeding expectations

Disney University exterior
This is where Disney World Cast Members spend their first day, learning the foundational Guest Service architecture.

Exceeding expectations.

This is the key to great customer service.

Yet we measure for CSI – Customer Satisfaction Index.

In healthcare, it’s called Patient Satisfaction.

We measure for satisfaction and we solve with an organization (and personal) aim that is far to low.

And because this is pervasive, it has become the accepted standard.

My mission is to change that standard by radically changing the aim.

Role models can be tricky

Referral from a client call yesterday.

Role models can be tricky.

Especially when they are media stars (take Steve Jobs for example).

All we see is the A-reel highlights.

Thinking this role model’s life is filled with the things we don’t have can be insidiously dangerous. The list of things that get in my way but not Steve’s way…

  • Not enough time.
  • Conflicting priorities.
  • Pressures from everywhere.
  • Not enough resources.
  • Few, if any, faults.
  • Plenty of courage and creativity.

Seriously?

Less reality, more pixie dust

Truth quote

Pixie dust vs Reality…

And i humbly submit that no one balances these two better than me. It the main reason people feel incredible hope after hearing and experiencing my Disney content.

Less (reality):

hassle

confusion

waste

frustration

silos

turnover

urgency

messy issues

mediocrity

conformity

following

More (pixie dust):

leading

focus

discipline

mastery

courage

accountability

commitment

loyalty

collaboration

creativity

innovation

honesty

profit
