Smile, it’s a nice reflection on you

Happy face mug
Three nights ago at dinner, July 4th. The restaurant was cold so i had a cup of hot water.

Smile, it’s a nice reflection on you.

The past two days have been bike riding days. Needed and wanted some serious cardio. Walking to the gym is great exercise, yet light on the cardio.

There will not be any bike riding at Glacier.

Just writing and hiking.

The average lifespan has increased 21 years

lifespan data
Don’t remember taking this four years ago at Orlando Airport.

The average lifespan has increased 21 years since Orlando International Airport first opened in 1942.

Who knew?

Who cares?

It’s an irrelevant number to most people.

Sixty is a relevant number for me.

Less than a year away.

No male on my dad’s side has lived past 60.

Not planning on dying by 60, but i am living like it’s a real deadline.

Began this crazy idea in 2009, giving me a full decade to do everything i want to do before the (artificial) end.

If you really self-reflect on the reality that no one knows – it could be next week, three years from now, or 30 or more years from now – having a ten-year opportunity to live intentionally is pretty smart, especially when you turn 50.

Live like you mean it.

A high tolerance for ambiguity is super helpful

Disney Keynote Speaker
Exercise sometimes takes a back seat during colder weather and when running a small startup, life gets a little crazy insane.

The most rewarding things you do in life are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.  – Arnold Palmer

A high tolerance for ambiguity is super helpful, especially the first 10 years of your startup.

Same thing applies for a lifetime of personal health. Stuff happens that you can never predict. An entrepreneurial spirit works for every aspect of life – mind, body, spirit, work, home.

It’s not the Magic that makes it work

Florida State Tree
Near Cocoa Beach, 2012.

It’s not the Magic that makes it work.

It’s the work that makes it Magic.

While i will be visiting one of my favorite places on the planet, i will also be working extraordinarily hard to do something remarkable.

Finish writing seven Disney Business Books before the end of the year.

The surge of eager anticipation is heightened this week

Glacier road plowing
Facebook update two days ago. Sun Road is open past Lake McDonald and Rising Sun. This is an unexpected development and adds new possibilities for the first writing trip.

The surge of eager anticipation is heightened this week.

Did i want to get out of bed at 4:30am this morning?

No.

Could i fall back to sleep?

No.

It happens sometimes.

i will pay a price.

Either way i pay a price.

So i chose to follow the energy.

Be nimble, flexible, and creative.
