The need to, body

iPhone sleep app
Since 1999 when i joined Disney Institute, getting eight hours of sleep in a single night is like hitting the lottery.

The need to rest is almost like Monopoly money.

We are constantly spending from a currency that isn’t real.

Being tired is not a real currency. Rest is the currency.

The first 15 years of my 30-year career at Disney, i was sleep deprived.

Never knew. Clueless.

Transferring to Disney Institute in 1999 produced the unexpected revelation for how deep and broad my sleep deprivation had been since 1984.

Been playing with real money ever since.

Heart’s on fire, body

Disney Customer service speaker Jeff Noel
Adding “Please” to a trash can is a perfect example of over-focusing. No one needs to add please to their trash cans, but doesn’t it change the way you see the world when you read it?

Heart’s on fire today to do the daily reps (move, fuel, rest) with commitment, joy, and gratitude.

Crazy dreams, body

Plastic pink yard flamingos covered in snow
Near Marias Pass, on the way to East Glacier (the town).

Here’s a crazy dream…

On my way to the airport.

Heading back out to Glacier for physical vibrancy reasons.

Dr Greg is replacing the temporary crown with a permanent one he made a few weeks ago.

The need to grow, body

Waterfront view from a hotel room balcony at night
We lived here for weeks. A 1.5-mile walk to the Pacific Ocean.

Here we are, 14 months post retina-repair surgeries (there were two, 3-weeks apart). And a several-month Summer (2024) Glacier trip. Not to mention Cataract surgery in May. And you know what?

i’ve become flabby.

Thought Glacier would shred me and tone me.

Not this Summer.

i played it safe by backing off the gas peddle. Less miles. Lower intensity.

It’s literally disrespectful, if i’m being real with myself. This is my worst physical state in 25 years.

The great news?

i’m alive and lucid.

How cool is that?

i’m growing by adding this unprecedented life experience to my life resume.
