GNP Day 57, physically

34-second video: Late September. Elk doing what they’ve done since time began.
9-second video: A quiet, introspective morning. No traffic.

After 45 minutes with the Elk, we pass by our favorite stop.

The blue sky offers hope the clouds will pass.

Three weeks of family and friends joining us.

Incredible to share the wilderness with family and lifetime friends.

Conversely, the adjustment to other’s schedules and abilities.

This juxtaposition is new. It is also the opposite of freedom.

Had our eyes on Siyeh Pass trail today. The top photo shows the unforecasted rain. The second photo shows a midday tease.

Other than midday, it rained all day.

We will try for Siyeh Pass trail tomorrow.

Handwritten notes
In an unusual move, i’m sharing GoDaddy followup notes. The original two-hour call on September 25 (four days ago) notes are not shared on purpose.
Handwritten notes
Once the migration completes successfully, this ticket is for restoring the Ultimate Site Backup feature i purchased years ago.

We know our home will take a direct hit.

We lived through three major direct-hit hurricanes in 2004 – in four weeks time, remember?

Charlie. Francis. Jean.

Remember?

Only those who lived through it can remember it like it was yesterday.

In 40 years, we’ve been home for every hurricane. To not be there for Ian is anxiety-producing.

Why?

The catch this time is we won’t be able to immediately identify any interior breaches from wind or rain.

An interior breach of any kind for any time duration can make a mountain out of a molehill.

Mountains and a lake
Lake McDonald shrouded in a cloud blanket.
Mountain lake
Hidden Lake showing off for human delight.
Four people in the mountains
Barb’s first visit. Chuck’s second. Cheryl and i do not keep track of our Hidden Lake Overlook visits.

First, today’s weather is a rare forecast for exceptionally warm, clear, and calm.

Second, couldn’t have scripted a better scenario. Well, could have but odds say it will never happen. But it’s happening.

Hiking goal: Something Barb is capable of. Then balancing additional hours to get Chuck (and me) some mileage and elevation gain/loss.

Expect to be wowed when you step outside. Right?

Finally, a photo that starts to capture what the naked eye sees.
33-second video: A video doing Grinnell Lake justice. Kinda.

The goal: A level hike. Not too far. One everyone can do.

Grinnell Lake hike worked in the past. Banking on it to work today.
