When you miss 10 days

Yesterday, back to running after a two week absence.

When you go 10 days without a gym workout, you’re in one of two places:

  1. The cusp of quitting
  2. Excited to get back in

When you don’t run for two weeks…you should substitute some other cardio activity like walking and/or biking.

There was no gym in Glacier nor was there one close by, but there was plenty of trail – trails are everywhere.

Recovery

Fresh June 8th snow on the mountains across from Lake McDonald Lodge.

Recovery.

Recovery is the process of catching up to normal – whatever normal means to you.

With exercise, it’s generally rest or a much lower version of your exercise routine.

When we travel, it can mean recovery from jet-lag and getting caught up with office administration.

Back to back and no soreness

Out for a pre-sunrise walk. The final walk of this first 2019 trip to Glacier National Park.
Lake McDonald Lodge on the lakeside.
Back entrance. Our rooms are directly above on the second floor.
Lake McDonald Marina. My room offers the exact same view.
Lake McDonald Lodge coming up the steps from the Marina.

Yesterday morning and this morning i expected sore legs.

Nope.

Two consecutive 30+ mile trips up to the Continental Divide on a bicycle.

Thank you to the Universe.

Move like you mean it

All shapes and sizes…of bikes.
The early, early birds are coming down (yellow shirt) when the early birds are going up.
Weeping Wall.
West side big drift.
Perfect temps to relax in the sun.

Move like you mean it.

Wasn’t sure i would be able to bike back-to-back Logan Pass summits.

Haven’t been biking much the past year. Lungs were amazing. Heart worked hard and hovered in the 100-130 range the entire ascent (4.5 hours).

To lower the 130+ pulse rate, i’d walk until it was back to 110. Tried to stay in the 120 zone.

Took lots of photos too.

The frequent stopping was a gift.
