If it’s not self-evident, you are doomed

Sometimes it feels like talking to a block of wood. Photo: The other day at a client meeting.

Even when we are in vibrant physical condition, we are not guaranteed to stay that way.

This is the harsh reality of why motivation is the key to lifetime success.

If it isn’t self-evident, no inspiring explanation is ever going to be enough.

Why do i still run?

aging truths
From LinkedIn this morning. Truth? Says who?

Why do i still run?

After all, i’ve been running consistently since 1999 (never going more than 10 days without a run).

Most people my age (56) trade in their running shoes for a nice couch and big screen tv.

So to answer the question, i don’t know exactly.

Day to day time pressures reveal two things about our wellness

Comfort zone quote
From Facebook and it appears the author is unknown.

Day to day time pressures reveal two things about our wellness:

  1. What we believe
  2. How much we believe it

This can be a painful realization that the voices inside our head are feeding lies to our soul (which impacts our physical health). At least it was like that for me when i started spending more time in self-reflection (1999).

Here’s to hoping you’re feeling great about your first thoughts and if you’re not, please forgive yourself. You deserve forgiveness. We all do. And it starts with us forgiving ourselves.

Repeatedly.

And maybe forever.

The long way is the shortcut.

Daily creativity is under rated

Windermere Prep School signage
This morning before sunrise.

In order to run before sunrise i had to postpone writing until mid-morning – while our son was at the Dentist. Writing this post in the waiting room is less comfortable than in my second floor office facing east, and facing the daily sunrise.

Because i knew in advance this morning would be challenging, i had already prepped myself for working differently.

By the way, the 8-miler (before sunrise) was nice and easy and included 800 meters of walking on either end.
