An apple a day keeps the doctor away

jeff noel disney speakers
A lunchtime photo. Was intentional to get the palm tree in.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

Does it?

My friend Dennis says things only become sayings or cliches if they are true.

To me, an apple is nature’s tooth brush. Carrots also work well.

Maybe oral health is what keeps the doctor away.

How do you guage your health?

car dashboard gauges
From our rental car a few days ago.

How do you guage your health?

What metrixcs do you use?

How often do you look at your gauges?

Are you happy with your answers?

There is only one correct answer (pass/fail if you will), “Yes!”.

Four months until college.

Find your own reasons for becoming passionate about your health.

Why?

You will be surrounded by people who do not think like this.

The peer-pressure will be overwhelming.

Stay up late. Eat daily desserts. Fries instead of veggies. Soda instead of milk or water. Play video games instead of going for a run and the gym. Etc. Etc.

PS. You will be in a unique position to influence and inspire others by your personal example. You can become the teacher.

Like a broken record

Disney Leadership Speaker
Flexibility is an under-focused on activity for most people. Thank you for taking this photo CSN.

Like a broken record.

Every day i write.

And here it’s about our temple.

You get one per lifetime.

Spend your lifetime honoring this incredible gift.

(Inexplicably, sidewalks and other places for exercise are rarely full of active people.)

Within this temple is everything keeping you alive.

Feed it well. Rest it well. Exercise it well. Stretch it well. Love it.

24 after school hugs remaining

Orlando at dawn
From this morning’s second run.

There are 24 after school hugs remaining, not counting today.

Assumptions:

  • 180 days for typical school year (13-18)
  • Ten years of year-round day care required (age 3 – 13) (240 M-F days)
  • 5 x 180 = 900
  • 10 x 240 = 2,400
  • 900 + 2,400 = 3,300 total after school hugs

Two dozen left to enjoy.
