It’s exciting not knowing

Still not sure what this morning’s workout will be. The first 2015 outdoor track meet is three days away. After this morning’s workout, there will be two full rest days before the meet.

While i’m in great shape for an almost 56 (in 12 days) year old, it’s no where near world-class competition level . This means the meet is a glorified workout.

An exciting way to dip my toes in the water so to speak.

Only two more workouts before the 2015 season’s first track meet.

Haven’t felt this excited about a track season in a decade.

Feet healthiest in 10 years.

Great cardio base.

Only two weeks of interval training so far. Things are going according to plan. The plan is to move forward to the next threshold only when it feels right. This may mean not being fully prepared for a meet.

And this is ok. Even welcomed.

So two weeks ago i started using intervals to gradually increase the intensity of pace. The intensity of running shorter and faster is the stress it puts on the body.

Going from jogging to running and now to sprinting.

It will take months.

There is a chance that my body may not be ready for the 400 by August 12, 2015.

It doesn’t matter.

Excited to have track workout number four this morning.

If the “healthy” feet stay healthy, and i don’t succumb to overdoing it, there’s a chance for a little Masters Magic this Track season.

PS. Officially registered (800 & mile) yesterday for the May 30th Central Florida Gliders Youth/Open meet at Lake Brantley High School.

Competition is simply a carrot out in front to keep the motivation alive.

The 2015 Track comeback is officially underway

Today will be track workout number two of 2015.

Kinda like the start of a new school year, back in the day when we were kids.

Will most likely run on the sidewalk again, in the shadows of Universal Studios.

Will park at Gold’s Gym, and run to this location as a warmup, then run back to Gold’s for a gym workout.

Taking risks comes naturally when you consistently take risks.

Not taking risks comes naturally when you consistently refuse to take risks.

The gate was open even though school was in session. An open gate is an attractive nuisance.

i took it.

The first three 400 meter intervals were on the track before Roy, the groundskeeper/security host politely asked me to leave. We had a nice conversation and he understood that i was not offended.

With seven more 400’s to go, i simply jogged across Turkey Lake Road to the shady side – the Universal Studios side – to complete the track workout. Each interval started by the sign in the middle photo above and concluded 400 meters down the sidewalk. Recovery was the walk back to the sign to begin again.

It was a nice start. An official start to 2015 track season. Ten times 400 meters at 90-95 seconds each with a 400 meter recovery walk.
