Rising Sun Day 4, body

Three hikers at the trail head
820am…Up we go, for an ambitious summit to Pollock Mountain and Bishops Cap.

Generally, your self-imposed limits aren’t limits. They just seem so.

Back where i started 3.25 hours later.

Moved from fearing Grizzlies to respecting Grizzlies.

i take pics like this simply to imprint travel times, effort, and days of acclimation. This is day four. My calves are taxed from 3,400’ elevation loss.

This is the face of peace and contentment. Hiking down from Sperry.

Sperry Day 3, body

Lunch 1130am-ish. Heading to Gunsight Mountain’s summit at 9,200’.
iPhone compass
Lunch elevation, 8,100’.
Turn-around spot, 8600’…
iPhone compass
Stopped at 8600’. Felt like i could make it the ridge and then the summit but didn’t think i could move after that. Still had to wayfind and scramble down 1,100’. And then the leisurely final three miles and 1400’ loss. Safety first.

Make your favorite places places you live year round or seasonally.
