These seven are yours

Climbing this far up Mt. Reynolds when the original goal this day was simply to walk around the base to get used to the notion of taking the risk to climb it in the next few weeks.

Do not get used to neglecting these seven, instead, get used to paying them the attention they deserve. You were born to move. Assuming you are able-bodied, you were born to manage these seven.

Like a broken record, everyday, never get bored with the basics:

  1. Cardio
  2. Strength
  3. Nutrition
  4. Rest
  5. Flexibility
  6. Core
  7. Motivation

Never. Get. Bored.

With. The. Basics.

Of course it is challenging

Rob Watson, my technology advisor, joined me in Glacier for a few days in 2019.

How would your health benefit, transform even, if you spent a few months walking (hiking) at high altitude?

Is another Summer (2020) in Glacier National Park possible?

Would i go there to work the entire Summer? What about half work and half personal time? What about all personal?

The past few days as i cancelled some reservations and booked some others, these questions are top of mind.

Leaning to mostly personal time.

Why?

Because it is opposite what i did this year.

How would my health respond?

No heart AFib

My resting heart rate is often below 50 which defaults to not being able to collect and share heat data.

No heart AFib.

Three lessons Glacier taught me about physical health

View across Lake McDonald while standing at its shore in Apgar.

Three lessons Glacier taught me about physical health:

  1. The best way to exercise is to walk outside.
  2. The quality of your nutrition and rest shows up the next day on the trail.
  3. Exercise never feels like exercise when you hike Glacier trails.

What changes when something is worth protecting?

Of course, i am Disney. Of course, i am healthy.

What changes when something is worth protecting?

Everything.

Son, when you reach the healthiest state in your life, you’ll start to understand what i’ve been talking about all these years.

You’ve never known me to be woefully unhealthy.

That doesn’t mean it wasn’t so.

Was 40 before i decided to never again get out of a state of thriving wellness.
