Partner with experts

Me, Honami (Japan), and Enol (Spain). And Walt Disney’s “Good Show” sign.

Partner with experts whenever possible.

Seek them out.

Seeking out is organic and structured.

Use both.

My organic search engine is simple – strike up conversations, especially with the locals.

A 10-miler through Shangrila and Iceberg Lake was yesterday’s payoff.

Give me 90 minutes please

Yesterday’s snow added character to the higher elevations. It was easy to grab a few shots on the way down from Ptarmigan Tunnel.

Made it about four miles in the rental car before realizing i will never make it to Siyeh Bend in time to meet Colin and his friend to climb Going To The Sun Mountain. It was 9:00AM when i was given a sign to turn around and hike Ptarmigan Tunnel trail.

Parked in front of my Motor Inn room and proceeded 100 meters to the Ptarmigan Tunnel trailhead.

The 5.5 miles uphill from Swiftcurrent Motor Inn to Ptarmigan Tunnel took 150 minutes.

Spent another hour and one more mile walking past the Tunnel’s East side.

The 5.5 miles downhill from Ptarmigan Tunnel to Swiftcurrent Motor Inn took only 90 minutes.

The descent felt great and my body was asking for 20 minutes of stretching. It had been quite an unplanned workout from the quick pace, facilitated by an empty trail and the adrenaline from making a driving mistake.

It was awesome. The stretching, not the mistake.

iPhone Eleven

Totally relatable.

iPhone Eleven.

Will it change the way Americans think about getting and staying healthy and well?

Doubtful.

No, not being cynical.

There’s a massive, overwhelming percentage of unhealthy, inactive Americans.

An iPhone 11 or the iWatch 5 won’t change humanity.

Habits will change humanity.

Wait, habits won’t change humanity either.

Motivation will change humanity.

No exercise Monday

We did not count as exercise the walking we did around Lake McDonald Lodge.

The rain was generally light enough be able to walk outside without getting soaked.

Had Djuan at the airport by noon yesterday.

Now that he’s spent two incredible days exploring Glacier National Park, what is he going to do next?

And i quote, “I’m going to Disney World!

Djuan is focused on physical wellbeing, like me, and it was an honor for me that he spent his time here with the busy schedule he keeps as a world-traveler and Vice President of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Happy 54th birthday dude!

Complaining isn’t a tool

Grinnell Glacier Overlook trail is a washout. Glad we didn’t save the hike for yesterday.

We all know people who complain.

Do complainers rise above and surrender to, or conquer, the things they complain about?

Almost to a fault, no.

This is why it’s critical to not be a complainer.

Be curious and wonder why things have to be a certain way.

Then act.

Surrender or conquer.

Either choice puts one in your win column.
