Slow and steady wins life’s race

Venture vibrantly. At home and at work. Photo: Camp store sign yesterday.

Slow and steady wins life’s race.

Never be afraid of going slow.

Be afraid of standing still.

Waiting and doing nothing are the twin siblings of self -destruction.

Launching and doing something are the twin siblings of self-growth.

Take a hike

Not sure life is better in Glacier, yet for me, hiking is exponentially better in Glacier.

Take a hike.

i walk (hike) in any place i find myself waking up to.

Hands down though, hiking in Glacier is the best walking – for mind, body, spirit, work, and home – than any place else i’ve woken up to.

Grateful to hike and climb at 45 & 60

jeff noel and Rob Watson
Approximately 8:30 AM yesterday at Logan Pass.
Approximately 9:30 AM at Mt. Reynolds saddle.
The day turned colder and windier and we aborted a three-mile portion of our hike.

Weird thought this morning. i am 1/3 older than Rob, and think nothing of hiking with him.

If roles were reversed, my older hiking partner (1/3 of 60 is 20) would be 80.

If an 80-year old was more physically fit than me, i’d be super impressed.

Pretty sure neither Rob nor i think anything of our age as we hike.

Should we?

Day 1 hike

Brian (left) and Rob (right), descending from Siyeh Pass.

Rob hiked 10+ miles and gained 2,300′ elevation on his first Glacier National Park hike.

We hike again today and then tomorrow Rob flies back to Orlando.

We are also getting eight hours of sleep.

We are over-focused on doing things that benefit our health.

If you don’t have to, physically

Minimum of five hours in the car yesterday.

If you don’t have to, why would you?

You’re an adult and you can pretty much take any life path you want.

You’re the CEO of You, Inc.

If you don’t have to have eat well, sleep well, and maintain a vibrantly active life, why would you invest the time, energy, and karma to develop, maintain, and enhance your physical wellbeing?
