Growing up shirtless on hot summer days was common. Every boy i knew did the same. None of our parent’s had air-conditioning or a swimming pool.

Also, in the early days of our neighborhood (the mid-late 1960’s), only one house (of 30), the original farmhouse, had shade. The old farmhouse had one large maple in the backyard, and one in the front yard.
