“Self-pity in it’s early stages is as snug as a feather mattress.  Only when it hardens does it become uncomfortable.”Maya Angelou

The past month or so, I’ve seen some Facebook friends talk about their upcoming 5k races or half-marathons.  This is awesome news.

But there’s a catch.  There’s always a catch.  Isn’t there?

They will be unable to maintain this level of enthusiasm and commitment.

It’s too difficult to incorporate into a decades-long lifestyle that doesn’t put health at the forefront of daily activity.

Ok, you say I’m wrong, right?

Prove it.

Put Up Or Shut Up

Are You Squirrelly?
Are You Squirrelly?

Man, ever have one of those days or weeks where the overwhelming feeling we often get is, well, actually more overwhelming than usual?

What do you do to compensate?

Something has to give, right, in order to get by?

Diet and exercise are almost always the first to go.

Then throw in travel (or some other time consuming activity) for the added challenge of rocking your health routine and processes.

Will you cave in to temptation?  Do you cave in to temptation?

I will not. I can not. Too much is at stake. Too much has been invested.

Figure it out.

Because guess what happens if you don’t figure it out?   (And you only get one guess)

Exactly.

Failure is not an option.

Afraid Of This?

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

Do not give up.

Too many people need people like you to show great health can be had at any age.

All It Takes

Life Is A Jam Session
Life Is A Jam Session

All it takes for healthy people to become unhealthy is about ten days. These ten days then lead to a choice.

Keep going.  Or, turn around.

Health.  It’s undeniably our personal responsibility.

We can go on a roller coaster ride of getting out of shape and then getting back in shape, but this gets old.

The common sense approach is to develop, over time, good health habits. The basics: adequate exercise, proper nutrition, ample rest.

We can never tire of the basics.  Ever.

Stale Resolutions?

Yo, you are not alone.  We all struggle with our health.  With diet, exercise, rest. Who’s got time for these?

Life is simply too challenging, too difficult, too demanding.

So today, what will help me might help you:

“Character is the ability to carry out a worthy decision after the emotion of making that decision has passed.” — Hyrum Smith

Are you willing to accept anything less than your best effort to never give up?

Quitting is what makes for stale resolutions. You are better than that. You can not quit.  You will not quit.  Quitting is for amateurs.
