The time it takes to incubate plans

Montana sky
East of Glacier the mountains end abruptly.

Truth be told, a writer’s retreat opens the flood gates for creative ideas.

The down side is this can be overwhelming.

Why?

Ideas take time to process.

The time it takes to incubate plans often is stolen from the time we generally spend on other things – like exercise.

Make sense?

Can you imagine the physical power you can harness

Glacier from the air at dawn
Yesterday wheels up at 5:55 AM.

Can you imagine the physical power you can harness if you chose to make hard decisions, to not procrastinate, and to make a habit of confronting difficult decisions?

Strongest winds i’ve ever seen at Lake McDonald

Lake McDonald waves
Yesterday about 1pm. Strong Summer winds out of the North.

Strongest winds i’ve ever seen at Lake McDonald, coming from the North.

Not only whitecaps, but crashing waves.

The 80-degree day turned to 70.

A bit chilly for Floridians.

Will that leave an imprint in your Glacier memories?

While our trip’s walking mileage has changed dramatically because we are recovering from the Highline Trail hike, we are still active.

We spent nearly three hours in a car yesterday crossing the border.

Our bodies have rested from a lack of hiking.

Rather than feel guilty or disappointed, we simply adapted to the hand we’ve been dealt.

Did you consciously observe how quickly and effortlessly we made the transition?

Bicycling from New York to Vancouver

Brad Wade is one of 20 bicyclists pedaling from New York to Vancouver.

When i spoke to him in the Lake McDonald valley, he estimated they’ve logged 3,000 miles.

He wanted to put his hat back on for the photo.

He said he hadn’t washed it in four months – although he does rinse it.

How do you think i went from the shyest kid to the most easy to talk to as an adult?

Are you taking notes?
