i used to feel guilty because i…

Malcolm X quote
The other day in a University hallway. This thought can easily be applied to personal wellness.

i used to feel guilty because i rarely exercised.

Then i realized i had to decide how i was going to deal with the guilt.

i used to feel guilty because by not being committed to personal wellness, i was, in fact, committing to the opposite.

Then i realized i had no solid role models for vibrant health.

i used to get stressed wondering what aging would be like as a sedentary person.

The future i observed was the lives of people close to me and older than me.

Then i realized that most of what i saw (and continue to see) was status quo, excuse-laden, dysfunctional, and victim-based.

Now my wellness motivation centers on being a role model for our Son.

Unprecedented success often includes unexpected losses

A comfortable lead going into 2nd leg.

2017 Track & Field World Championships
Team USA Men have won seven consecutive 4 x 400 relay world championships. Yesterday in London, the string was broken. Trinidad and Tobago (right edge) won with USA crossing the line in second.

Unprecedented Team USA success.

What does unprecedented success look like?

Perhaps it is reaching a vibrant level of physical wellness and then maintaining (and enhancing) it for the rest of your life.

Looking forward to our walk on Market Street and around campus in an hour.

Take care of your health.

No one else will do this for you.

Ok?

Compromise isn’t always a bad thing

Bryant University entrance sign
Neither of us felt like jogging. Walking was a nice compromise.

The 5k walk to Bryant University was a nice way to start the day.

We didn’t let the fact that we didn’t feel like running stop us from exercising.

Remember how our legs felt, even though it was just a walk?

What used to be the Division 1 athlete facility is now the Campus/Student facility.

Why?

Because a new athlete facility just opened.

The challenge after college is how to stay active (assuming you were active in college) when a first class facility isn’t a short walk from your room.

Will you over-focus on how you’ll make the transition from college to career?
