A healthy body can be lonely if…

A beautiful Labor Day Monday.
The Reynolds saddle is super easy to reach. Photo from saddle looking East.
Behind Mt. Reynolds, the view is all new.
Shane and Jeremy are local hiking buddies. Reynolds (behind us) is 9,125’ tall.
This is where i turned around. We serendipitously met near the trailhead and i asked if i could tag along until i got uncomfortable.

A healthy body can be lonely if…

You don’t have anyone to be active with.

Do you know your heart rate?

Wore watch to bed. Normally don’t.

Do you know your heart rate?

You should and i assume you do.

Are you comfortable with what you know about your heart rate?

Do you know what to do if you’re not?

You should and i assume that you do.

Be amazed and be amazing.

So many hikes

Jody went home yesterday. This was us minutes before driving to the airport and minutes after reaching Logan Pass from Granite Park Chalet.

So many hikes.

It gets easier (and tougher, if that’s possible) to choose which hikes to do because i’m alone.

Safety first.

Celebrating two moments today

Disney Cast Member name tags
Some of my very first Disney Cast Member name tags and Cast exclusive WDW anniversary pins from 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988…

Celebrating two moments today:

  1. An awesome first week back to begin second five-week stint in Glacier, with Jody Maberry
  2. The 5th Disney retirement anniversary

Jody an i averaged 10 miles a day as we scouted locations and recorded “If Disney RanYour Life” podcast episodes.

So today is a rest day, after hiking 40 miles above 6,600′ elevation.

Jody flew home yesterday and we both felt like we had just arrived, even though we spent five nights in Glacier.

Trust your physical gut

Three Big Horn Sheep stood watch on the mountain side.

Knowing when Jody flies home today there is a three week stretch where i’ll be mostly hiking alone.

The one question for Dan knowing there are almost no hikers and reduced trail support, “If you were hiking alone in Glacier in September, what’s your best advice if i encounter a Grizzly Bear?”

“Trust your gut.”, Dan stated without hesitation.
