Driving everywhere is the fast lane to the sitting lane.

dad

This is the original idea…

Driving everywhere is the fast lane to the slow lane.

i changed it from ‘slow lane’ to ‘sitting lane’.

Why?

Because the slow lane, generally, means a good thing, like not being in a hurry.

The sitting lane means: inactivity, limited mobility, perhaps wheelchair, or even hospital bed.

Walk whenever and wherever you can.

For one day you may only dream of it, because now you can’t.

Hot as heck. Humid. Just like home.

Different is better.

dad

It’s challenging to be better than the best.

To be the best, you must be the only one.

However, to be different, there are a million categories in which to be the only one.

Over decades, it became clear to me that you can follow dogma to strive to become the best in your category.

Or.

Or, you can strive to become the category.

That is my recommendation.

Brisbane airport to our apartment rental is a 75-minute drive.

Sage wisdom says records are made to be broken.

dad

Our new travel day record is 36 hours door to door.

Door to door is my measurement standard.

Clock starts when we close our home door.

Clock concludes when we open our rental door.

Knowing how to ‘be prepared’ in the wild transfers to long distance travel.

dad

The Los Angeles airport connection was my biggest concern. Prepared the best i knew how.

Turns out it was the easiest part of the trip so far.

And so far, as i write this, we’ve been traveling for 24 hours since leaving our house. We left four hours before flight time to manage any unknowns for International travel.

We are 90 minutes from a Sydney landing.

Then a short layover.

Then a couple hour flight to Brisbane.

Then get our five suitcases and head to Rental Car counter.

Then an hour drive North.

Finally, check in at our short-term apartment rental.

These final small segments should be easy.

And i am reminded when in the wild, never let your guard down.

Ps. Will be driving on the other side of the road for the first time ever.

Here’s what i know, physically

Rain spotted tshirt
Yesterday’s early evening two-hour walk. Ten minutes from home and rain began. My first post eye-surgery jog.

i know i’m the only one who can do my reps; movement, rest, fuel.

dad

What i know physically is from what i’ve read, what i’ve lived, and what i’ve observed.

i’ve drawn my conclusions, based on my actions, experiences, and observations.

The physical conclusions are then applied to life moving forward.

Launch, learn, revise.

Repeat.
