GNP Day 55, physically

Handwritten notes
In an unusual move, i’m sharing GoDaddy followup notes. The original two-hour call on September 25 (four days ago) notes are not shared on purpose.
Handwritten notes
Once the migration completes successfully, this ticket is for restoring the Ultimate Site Backup feature i purchased years ago.

We know our home will take a direct hit.

We lived through three major direct-hit hurricanes in 2004 – in four weeks time, remember?

Charlie. Francis. Jean.

Remember?

Only those who lived through it can remember it like it was yesterday.

In 40 years, we’ve been home for every hurricane. To not be there for Ian is anxiety-producing.

Why?

The catch this time is we won’t be able to immediately identify any interior breaches from wind or rain.

An interior breach of any kind for any time duration can make a mountain out of a molehill.

GNP Day 54, physically

Mountains and a lake
Lake McDonald shrouded in a cloud blanket.
Mountain lake
Hidden Lake showing off for human delight.
Four people in the mountains
Barb’s first visit. Chuck’s second. Cheryl and i do not keep track of our Hidden Lake Overlook visits.

First, today’s weather is a rare forecast for exceptionally warm, clear, and calm.

Second, couldn’t have scripted a better scenario. Well, could have but odds say it will never happen. But it’s happening.

Hiking goal: Something Barb is capable of. Then balancing additional hours to get Chuck (and me) some mileage and elevation gain/loss.

3-second video: Good karma for our impending hike.
Four people by a mountain hotel
Expect to be wowed when you step outside. Right?
21-second video: Swiftcurrent and Many Glacier Valleys.
Mountain lake and hotel
Mt Wilbur on Swiftcurrent Lake.
Mountain hotel
Finally, a photo that starts to capture what the naked eye sees.
33-second video: A video doing Grinnell Lake justice. Kinda.

The goal: A level hike. Not too far. One everyone can do.

Grinnell Lake hike worked in the past. Banking on it to work today.

GNP Day 52, physically

Mountain at sunrise
Don’t recall seeing the sunrise move left to right on Clements. Normally it’s top to bottom.
Interestingly, Oberlin’s summit did not get lit first.

Explained to Chuck that we will encounter almost no one. This is remarkable because Logan Pass is a zoo from the time the lot fills up until late afternoon.

Ain’t nobody got time for a zoo.

GNP Day 51, physically

Four people at trailhead sign
We are not setting a mileage goal. We will hike until we feel we’ve gone far enough, then return. Hike starts at 11:00 AM.

Physically, we reap what we sow.
