What if folks got sick of a sedentary lifestyle and committed to “pausing the sloth” and activated their “play” button?
In both cases, it’s a safe bet to know that old habits die hard.
Neither pause will last.
No crystal ball is needed.
This is the great human challenge.
To find the discipline to move, eat, and rest like life depended on it.
Congrats on disciplining yourself to do the right (obvious) things for the right (obvious) reasons. Be a bright light for others.
Ps. Looking forward to hiking at “sea level” in an hour. Will enjoy the mountain lungs and legs while they last.

This Summer, summited 8,200’ Oberlin five times the first week i arrived in July. First trip up was 100 minutes.
Previous best time, without trying to make it feel like a race – just moving at a strong, steady clip – is 58 minutes, in 2020 (last year).
Yesterday’s 50-minute ascent destroyed what i thought was the limit, 58 mins.
Nope.
Maybe after 22 previous ascents, time spent way-finding is close to zero.

If you could hike 10 miles in Glacier National Park near the Continental Divide, would you do it? Could you do it?
And if the elevation averaged 7,000’, still doable?
And if the wind was constantly blowing at either side of 30+ mph?
My answers: yes, yes, yes, and yes.
Yesterday’s 10-miler behind Mt Reynolds, in the hard-blowing cold, high-elevation wind was extraordinary.
