GNP Day 4, physically

6-second video: Here’s the reason for their presence.
5-second video: monkey see, monkey do.
11-second video: Just when you think it can’t get any more interesting. You can count seven Mountain Goats in this clip.

There’s an art to walking uphill, at mountain elevation, without losing your breath.

Pro-tip: It takes practice. It requires a clear, concise, and compelling reason (goal). It also requires .thinking .differently and over-focusing on what you used to under-focus on or ignore.

GNP Day 3, physically

Weather forecast on a computer screen
My weather app doesn’t recognize Logan Pass. Local store offers this service. Monday is the arrival day (today).
Small Disney figurines with a miniature GPS device
Satellite GPS device allows iPhone/Bluetooth basic texting. Also tracks my route every two minutes. Family is updated in real time.
4-second video: cold and windy, with rain on the way. Inside finally…ahhhhh.
4-second video: Lunch at 1130am.
Rainy window in the mountains
Weather update. Never saw blue sky after this little tease.

While the rain is forecasted to stop, the temperature dropped from yesterday’s 90 to 55 today.

Could be worse.

Could have rained all day.

Could have started raining while in route.

GNP Day 2, physically

Apple Watch in mountains
Tradition has morphed into summiting Oberlin a couple times the first week back.
Hiking trail sign
Oberlin Climber’s trailhead…sign is weird but…no worries. Onward…
Snow on mountains
Wanted to see the snow extent…it’s massive for mid-July. This is good news for the ecosystem.
3-second video: first glance at the water falls area.
11-second video: the entire trail is covered. The saddle is impassable. But what if i veered far right?

Pervasive snow. Mid July. Easy Logan Pass parking. Balmy temps, even at 8am. Forced to be creative, or retreat back to parking lot.

Obviously creative won.

Creative is art.

High mountain art.

It’s especially cool when it’s unexpected, inspiring, and easy.

‘Twas the night before, physically

13-second video: March 15, 2020…last day for Magic Kingdom…captured a rare moment in time. Will we be closed for a few weeks? Longer? No one could see coming what was about to unfold.
If ever there is a time for leadership excellence, it’s in times of crisis. This three-ring binder is from Performance Excellence’s launch in the early-to-mid 1990s.

‘Twas the night before, physically…GNP…

Can tell my body composition has a higher fat percentage than pre-pandemic.

‘Blaming’ several things:

  • No gym membership (intentional)
  • Regular sugar consumption (ice cream, candy, etc)
