Why struggle with exercise motivation?

Disney Institute Keynote Speaker
You can (and should) get and stay healthy.

Why struggle with exercise motivation?

To alleviate (not eliminate) future health issues.

And to minimize effects from occasional illnesses.

And, to reduce recovery time from illness or injury.

Wellness is a commitment that needs fun

As we jogged together as a family yesterday for the first time since Summer, i smiled at how many months we’ve been out the door at 5:15am or 6:15am.

Cheryl and i hit it around 5:15am. Chapin and i around 6:15am.

Our distance is nearly 1,200 meters.

If i used distance to measure success, we’d get a low grade.

If i use longevity to measure success, compared to not running at all, we are a smashing success.

What makes common sense decently uncommon?

healthy teens
Do any of the three believe the other two friends are significantly smarter.

Do you think you will be better able to excel at whatever your work is if you exercise regularly or if you don’t?

The challenge with being excellent is that you will carry a lifetime of desire with you to sustain that momentum for your lifetime. Yet life comes with temptations, unhealthy shortcuts, harmful distractions designed to derail excellence. The great news is that you can develop, adjust, and hone your habits and rituals to ensure your foundation remains solid.

The opposite of excellence is to carry the weight of poor choices and lack of hope with you for a lifetime. You can imagine how poor choices compound over time.

Like the theme in yesterday’s posts – waiting and doing nothing are the twin siblings for self-destruction.

Go.

Be amazed and be amazing.

You are worthy. You are deserving. And nothing will ever change that.

Today’s 10-mailboxes a day run was spectacular

sending a video clip through dropbox
The email file wouldn’t go through so here is the Dropbox upload in progress. Just a moment in time. So significant for me.

Today’s 10-mailboxes a day run was spectacular.

Our slow shuffle of a jog was the most conversational since we began running three months (14 weeks) ago.

What he did last night and the way he did it impressed me in a way i haven’t been impressed in a long time.

Why?

Just 24 hours prior, Ben (in Madrid) shared that his client wouldn’t even begin to consider me without a video clip.

Chapin went above and beyond on extremely short notice.

The result, considering all the conditions, is remarkable.

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is

first time homeowners
Context for the location of our first home in 1985. The dark grey area is the Reedy Creek swamp. Our lot was about 100 feet away.

first time homeowners
A small lot compared to our current two-acres, yet compared to the typical lot, we felt like we had acreage with our pie-shaped lot.

Ledger 56. We are currently on ledger #77. Our check writing has almost stopped.

burning paper files
Yesterday’s reality – burning hundreds, if not thousands of paper files.

Closeup of the reality. There’s no undoing this.

The tip of the paper-elimination iceberg.

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.

Motivation is like a fire, you must continue adding fuel or it will extinguish.

So motivated to eliminate clutter, stuff, and unnecessary “baggage”.

Seriously, oh what a relief this has been.

After 8:45am Mass this morning, i’ll spend the rest of this Sunday trying to finish.
