It’s 5AM, November 17, 2009 here in Orlando, Florida. I write five blogs every single day. Adidas has a tag line, “Impossible is Nothing“!
Nike has one too, “I’ve Got Soul“. It’s even a You Tube video. It’s what I’m I’m craving right now – a little soul.
That video, even though it’s only 63 seconds, never fails to inspire me. How many days, and how many ways, do you inspire yourself before you ever walk out your front door?
Seriously, how many? Hey, you don’t owe me an answer. You’ll never owe me anything. But I challenge you to challenge yourself and ask, “What do I owe myself?“
Can’t explain how my brain works, all I can tell you is that it is constantly turning, churning and burning. So, this morning, like every morning after the initial routine is done, the process of writing five daily blogs begins.
Lane 8 is third in the order in which I write the five daily blogs. Stay with me, there’s a point to this.
Arriving at the WordPress Blog admin page, I create “a blank sheet of paper“. Then I pause, think about what to write and get started. Usually, something from the day before, or something from today’s agenda, is where the inspiration comes from.
Today is a bit more unusual. Click here to see what inspired today’s post. Make it a GREAT day. It’s completely up to you, isn’t it?
I don’t even know where to begin, sitting in my car here at Gold’s Gym, this morning.
What do you do? When you’re really busy and you desperately want to workout, but your schedule and all your other life commitments are clamoring for your attention. What do you do?
This is one of life’s truth’s – life is hard.
And one more – an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion.
Anyway, none of you will have the guts courage to comment on the question here. But I still love ya.
Seriously, without you, Lane 8 doesn’t matter that much, does it?
Actually, it makes all the difference in the world to my Family. And if they are the only one’s who are helped by Lane 8, that’ll be enough.
PS. Why the stronger tone this morning? Because, sitting here in the car, listening to ZRadio, I’m actually trying to kick my own ass butt.
Great physical health doesn’t happen by wishing. It happens by doing it. Find a million ways to get and stay motivated, or you’re doomed. Carpe diem.
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small people who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s not an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary… Impossible is nothing.”-Adidas
“If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough”. – jeff noel
Good luck today with your health goals. Set ‘em high. Carpe diem.
Sure felt good to go for a short run and work out at Gold’s Gym yesterday.
Why? Because it’s been nearly a week. Why? Because I’ve been traveling and working hard.
Got home (from Anchorage, Alaska) about 1AM Thursday morning, got a few hours sleep and taught all day Thursday. Then taught all day yesterday (Friday).
But I refused to let another day go by without exercising. Sure, I had to get up at 4AM to run and the run wasn’t even half of my usual distance, due to time constraints. And yes, I was very tired on a Friday afternoon (from travel and a six-day work week). Did I feel like changing clothes and driving to Gold’s Gym? Nope.
So what motivated me to go the extra mile?
Simply this. I’ll be darned if I’m going to give up a decade’s work of life changing health habits because my schedule continues to be challenging. Here’s a no-brainer: our efforts to get healthy do not matter if we don’t fight hard to win the battle to STAY healthy. Ya with me?
My son and I went to Gold’s Gym yesterday. It was packed. That’s great to see. Yet even though Gold’s Gym was crowded, the people exercising represent such a small portion of the population.
When I drive to and from work, or on errands, there are occasional joggers along the way. Again, a small portion.
Maybe the ones who exercise regularly are missing the boat. Perhaps they are the crazy ones. Wasting their time on the frivolous pursuit of a sound body. Not a perfect body. A sound body.
Wasting their time and energy by rearranging their schedules to make exercise fit. Passing on “delicious” foods, or skipping second helpings, in an effort to practice healthy moderation.
What’s wrong with that small portion of the population? What a bunch of self-indulgent individuals. They remind me of the people on the airplane who put the oxygen mask on first, before offering to help the person next to them.
Lane 8 You Tube video. A quick video demonstrating progress on strengthening my core.
Ya know, until I got tired of pulling hamstrings, and the physical therapist at Florida Hospital – Celebration Health told me, “You have to strengthen your core or you’ll continue to get hurt”, I had no idea what my core was.
All those years, never worked on my core, other than a few sit ups here and there.
This is much tougher than I’m making it look. I remember when I first started doing this particular exercise, I could bearly hold my legs up for one second.
Tiger Woods’ advice to me, “Out work ‘em”, is just like yesterday’s post – common sense, but not common practice.
If my goal is to help others be inspired, I better be able to inspire myself, eh?
Remember my hope yesterday, to list the Lane 8 credentials. Me too.
That Lane 8 post is written and will post tomorrow. May I challenge you to Dream Big, Get There, Stay There? Carpe diem, jeff noel
Orlando’s jeff noel, from Lane 8, You Tube video on hard work.
The other day jeff noel was at Dr. Phillips High School, at the Bill Spoon Stadium, running 400 meter intervals, in preparation for the 2009 Master’s Track & Field World Championships, in Finland.
I’ve found the harder I work, the luckier I get. Carpe diem, jeff noel
